North East Zonal Cultural Center organized skill development workshop for Idu & Adi communities

Roing : A five days workshop to develop skills of women in traditional jewellery making organized by North East Zonal Cultural Centre (NEZCC), Dimapur in collaboration with Department of Art & Culture at multipurpose hall in Roing.

While highlighting the aims and objective of the workshop, Monnong Tayeng, DACO Roing, advised the trainees to attend it sincerely as the training will provide them an opportunity to improve their skills and knowledge on traditional jewellery making, like beads necklaces, ear rings, bangles etc. which will be beneficial for them in uplifting their economic status.

The programme will also help in documentation of traditional art forms passed on from generation to generation orally, he said. The training programme will also provide a platform for cultural exchange and better understanding of making traditional jewellery of both (Adi and Idu) communities, said DLEO Rokom Tayeng.

All together, 30 trainees from both Idu and Adi communites of Lower Dibang Valley district are attending the training. Cultural Secretary of IMCLS Y.Mele was also present during the inaugural function.
