Dimapur (Nagaland) : The Northeast India Academy of Performing Arts (NIAPA) organized its first Kaushal Mela under the pilot project of Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikash Yojana (PMKVY) 2.0 on November 14 at its Multi-purpose Hall. Dr. TM Lotha, Advisor Treasuries & Account, Labour & Employment and Skill Development graced the occasion as the chief guest.
Dr Lotha said that a large number of youth needs to be mobilized to take up job oriented Skill trainings to become employable and earn their livelihood. He also lauded the initiative for organizing the Kaushal Mela, thus, creating awareness about the PMKVY 2.0 and ‘Skill India’ campaign. He also added “People in most of the districts are unaware of such programs meant to skill the youth and therefore such melas should also be conducted in other districts to create more awareness”.
While voicing concern over the large youth force who lacked the necessary skills to get employment, he advised the Training Provider to not compromise on the quality of training that were being imparted at the Academy.
Special guest James Swu, SDO (Civil) Dimapur, also speaking at the formal function stressed on pursuing ones passion, to enhance such skills and not merely settle for government jobs out of family or social pressures.
NSF Speaker, Joshua Thong Seb in his speech encouraged the gathering to pursue one passion not just as a hobby but enhance the skill to earn their livelihood. While encouraging NIAPAs maiden step for organizing the Kaushal Mela, he also extended full support from the apex student body towards skilling the youth of our region.
A press note on the event stated that the programme chaired by NIAPA administrator Micheal Achumi, also in his introductory speech updated the gathering about NIAPA as a certified Training Provider, affiliated with the Beauty & Wellness Sector Skill Council (B&WSSC), Gurgaon. And that the Academy is one of the few Training Partners in Dimapur selected by the National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) for the Pilot Project of Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY) 2.0 to ‘Skill India’.
As informed by Managing Director, Akuonuo Khezhie, registration for various training at NIAPA under PMKVY 2.0 has started; interested candidates can come and apply for the same. The scheme targets high-school/college drop-outs, educated unemployed, or anyone above 18 years of age.
