Jammu : Chairperson J&K State Commission, Nayeema Ahmed Mehjoor today inaugurated a skill development center for women at village Nardani, Raipur Bantalab.
Addressing the gathering, Chairperson shared the importance of skill development for rural people and how to get benefited form the government led skill development initiatives. She urged the women to avail the benefits of such centers to improve their skills and make themselves self-reliant by establishing small enterprises or self help groups for income generation. They may also foresee employment opportunities with the business establishments in the adjoining cities.
She said, government has various funding initiatives as well through which they may seek small loans to fund their ventures while implementing skills learned in the center. Various schemes have been launched by the centre and state government to uplift women folk of weaker sections. She also appreciated the Aash Foundation for their endeavor to uplift women and for organizing the inauguration ceremony.
While interacting with the Chairperson, women of the area put forth their grievances and demands including posting of doctor at PHC, toilet, fans and water cooler in Anganwari center of the said village.
Responding to the demands of the women, Nayeema assured them that their demands will be taken care-off and their grievances will be taken up with the concerned authorities for early redressal. Chairperson also distributed gifts among the girl students of the area.
Nayeema was accompanied by the members of the Commission, Kavita Suri, Gulzara Masoodi and Secretary, Aijaz Abdullah.
