Dehradun : Sustainable Development Forum Uttaranchal (SDFU) held a meeting in the state capital on the issue of discussion of development plans for the mountain states.
Dr. Rajendra Dobhal, the chairman of the forum, said, “The forum will soon organize a skill development workshop for the youth of the state to understand sustainable development.”
Dobhal also spoke about the recently held Sustainable Mountain Development Summit (SMDS), organized by Indian mountain Initiative (IMI) at Leh, Ladakh, even as presentations were given on the learnings from the summit on topics like artificial glaciers, glacier conservation, water security, water management, traditional irrigation system and water preservation.
The SDFU forum also said that it would support state planning commission on drafting the sustainable planning for the Uttarakhand state. Dr. STS Lepcha, Lalit Pandey, H C Uniyal and Binita Shah were among the participants in the meeting convened.
