Tirupati : The Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) has introduced integrated skill development programme at degree level and the introduction course at Intermediate level in its educational institutions.
The programmes have been introduced after several discussions, project reports, workshops and meetings with experts on skill development conducted and convened by the TTD for two-three years. The present administration and education department led by Tirupati Joint Executive Officer Pola Bhaskar, signed an MoU with a Bangalore-based institution in this regard.
According to sources, the MoU has been signed by Sri Venkateswara Vidyadana Trust, TTD, with Sri Sri Rural Development Programme (SSRDP) Trust.
According to the curriculum, every student has to participate in yoga classes for the first 15 days of the month. All students have to learn pranayama, dhyana, personality development, Indian culture and Sanatana Dharma as mandatory subjects. Meanwhile, they have to choose some subjects and courses on skill development. Every student has to learn the chosen course for 3 years along with the regular degree course. According to the MoU, the SSRDP Trust will bear all the expenses, and courses will be evolved every year.
“When the student passes from the college, he will have thorough knowledge to stand on his own or be appointed by any company,” Bhaskar said. The TTD is also contemplating involving their teachers to adopt this type of concept-teaching. Digvijay, SSRDP director, said the aim of rural development will be fulfilled through these courses.
