In a bid to bolster the English language proficiency and employability of the workforce in the healthcare sector, Skill Development and Training Principal Secretary, Suresh Kumar, has announced a strategic initiative by the Andhra Pradesh State Skill Development Corporation (APPSDC) to collaborate with esteemed UK-based organizations.
The move comes as part of APPSDC’s commitment to elevate the skill sets of the workforce in the state, ensuring they meet global standards and are equipped with the necessary expertise to excel in their respective fields.
Skill Development and Training Principal Secretary Suresh Kumar, along with APPSDC Managing Director P. Raja Babu, recently engaged in discussions with the British Deputy High Commissioner to Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, Gareth Wynn Owen to explore potential areas of collaboration.
During the discussions, it was mentioned that proposals were received from several reputable UK-based organizations, including the British Council, Skill and Education Group, Pearson, Cambridge University, and Neath Port Talbot College Group. These proposals encompass a wide range of training initiatives aimed at enhancing worker rights awareness, implementing blended learning models, and offering online courses tailored to the specific needs of the healthcare workforce.
Mr. Suresh Kumar said these training programmes would be organized to prepare and certify health workers, particularly from India, for employment in the UK.
“The government is evaluating these proposals and the feasibility of implementation of the projects in collaboration with the UK-based companies will be explored. The focus will be on improving the English language proficiency and employability of the work force in the State, particularly in the healthcare sector,” he said.
The collaboration between APPSDC and UK-based organizations marks a significant step towards fostering a skilled and proficient healthcare workforce in Andhra Pradesh, ultimately contributing to the state’s socio-economic development and enhancing its global competitiveness.
