DFID India – SCPwD launched first pilot top-up ToMT programme for skill training of Persons with Intellectual Disabilities

New Delhi : First of it’s kind two days pilot top-up Training of Master Trainers (ToMTs) programme was launched by Department for International Development (DFID)-UK Government and Skill Council for Persons with Disability (SCPwD) for skill training of Persons with Intellectual Disabilities where experts from National Star College, United Kingdom designed and delivered the training on 7th December and 8th Dec 2018 at India Habitat Center-New Delhi. About 18 trainers from Delhi, Kerala, Gujarat, Uttar Pradesh, Telangana participated in the two days programme. The qualified Master Trainers received joint certificates issued by SCPwD and National Star College-UK.These Master trainers will be India’s first cohort of resources aiming to train Persons with intellectual Disabilities for employment opportunities.

In addition, two batches of trainers underwent 4 days top up training of trainers programme using UK ways of innovative training delivery in Delhi and Hyderabad respectively under the ambit of DFID Skills for Jobs programme.

More such training will be planned in the second phase by DFID in February 2019. DFID intends to bring in international and innovative expertise, test such pilots in India and plans to scale up successful models under their Skills for Jobs programme in collaboration with relevant stakeholders.
