HSBC has partnered Swades Foundation to launch a skill-development programme called Skills for Life. HSBC has committed Rs 100 crore for this programme, which aims to benefit about 75,000 individuals in the next five years. The programme was formally announced in November 2015 in London, in a joint statement by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and England’s Prime Minister David Cameron.
Through this flagship skill-development programme, HBSC will support non-profit organisations in employment-linked skills development of disadvantaged young people, up-skilling of educators and teachers, and women’s empowerment through livelihood enhancement. Swades Foundation will roll out the first vertical of the HSBC Skills for Life programme, geared up to provide employment-linked skills training to 30,000 disadvantaged young people in the next five years.
