ASSOCHAM and Punjab Skill Development Mission come together to bridge skill gaps at local level

Chandigarh: The Associated Chambers of Commerce and Industry of India (ASSOCHAM) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Punjab Skill Development Mission (PSDM), Govt. of Punjab for Skill Development Project at the PSDM’s Office, Chandigarh.

The MoU was signed and exchanged between Smt. Deepti Uppal, Director, Employment Generation, Skill Development and Training, Punjab & Mr. Neeraj Arora, Assistant Secretary General, ASSOCHAM in the august presence of Sh. Kumar Rahul, IAS, Secretary, Employment Generation, Skill Development &m Training, Punjab, and other senior officials of PSDM, Mr. Ravinder Singh Chandla, Regional Director- Northern Region, ASSOCHAM were also present during the event.

The objective of the MoU is to set up a dedicated Skill Development Centre of Excellence in Hoshiarpur for the Automotive industry, which will help in improving the employment and entrepreneurial opportunities for local unemployed youth, and school dropouts & bridge the gap of skilled manpower for the local industry cluster.

ASSOCHAM has identified 3 courses with prescribed NSQF from the National Operating Standards of Levels 2-4. Beneficiaries would be mobilized, counseled, and recruited in the most scientific and structured manner. The training program is projected to start on April 01, 2023, at Village Rampur Kalyan (Distt. Kapurthala).

This Skill development training program will be in line with the Skill India Mission. This step will not only benefit the economically weaker section of society but will also help in improving the efficiency of the industries based in the area.
