The Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE) signed an MoU (Memorandum of Understanding) with the National Qualification Authority (NQA) of United Arab Emirates (UAE) to enhance cooperation in the area of skill development.
The MoU was signed after the Union Cabinet’s approval of the engagement between MSDE and NQA. “It will pave the way for trained and skilled workers to access employment opportunities overseas and on the other hand improve the workforce productivity in UAE,” a statement from the ministry said.
Commenting on the partnership, Union Skill Development Minister Rajiv Pratap Rudy said the partnership would enhance productivity of both the countries. “For years, India’s resources have been migrating to the Middle East for job opportunities. With this collaboration between India and UAE, this is our first step to ensure that we have a skilled and certified workforce in India which can enhance the productivity and prosperity of both the nations,” Rudy said.
A Joint Working Group has also been constituted, with representation from both the countries to work towards mutual recognition of qualifications and certification system. The group has already recognized 82 job roles which have been bench-marked to UK standards and 28 job roles bench-marked to Australian standards.
