State Industries Promotion Corporation of Tamil Nadu Limited (SIPCOT) is the infrastructure arm of Government of Tamil Nadu. The organization develops industrial complexes by providing basic and comprehensive infrastructure facilities for the industries to set up their units. SIPCOT has so far developed 23 Industrial Complexes/parks and 6 Sector Specific Special Economic Zones (SEZs) across Tamil Nadu in a total extent of about 34,000 acres spread over 15 districts. Further, SIPCOT also has land banks across the state for prospective and new age industries to enhance their manufacturing footprint in the state of Tamil Nadu.
SIPCOT envisages to develop skill development centres for impart high-end industrial skill training to the youth in the industrial area. Currently, the following SIPCOT industrial parks are considered for establishment of skill development centres (SDCs) :
a) Hosur
b) Oragadam
c) Cheyyar
d) Gangaikondan
SIPCOT envisages to identify the Training Partner (TP) for undertaking the operationalization of these skill development centres to cater to the skilled manpower needs of the respective industrial clusters.
The SDCs are envisioned to be setup as a state of the art Centre of Excellence (CoE) in which the Training Partner brings in their best in class operations and management experience, comprehensive training curriculum with short term (3-6 months) and long term(1-3 years) training programs, best cohort of trained professionals from industry and academia and also best in class equipment/ tools/ machines/ simulators (commonly referred to as equipment) to be used for training purposes.
