Mumbai : Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella launched “Project Sangam” on day two of Future Decoded. “Project Sangam” will support government’s ‘Skill India’ initiative through skill building as well as connecting the skilled with jobs.
Nadella started with LinkedIn which has 39 million users. “It is going to help them focus on economic opportunities. LinkedIn India is creating products just for India and the first one is LinkedIn Lite — another tool that will help people connect from low connectivity zones in the country,” says Nadella.
“LinkedIn also plans to launch a placements app for college graduates. Microsoft will also launch a new programme called Project Sangam and it will help Indians to skill themselves for jobs available.” It will be an open ecosystem where trainers can pour their content into Sangam and people can take the training right from Sangam and apply for jobs, he added.
Live demonstration of Project Sangam was also delivered to the audience. An executive launches the service with Aadhar Praman service from Microsoft, then creates a LinkedIn Profile and then enrolls under courses for skill training. Lessons can be downloaded for offline viewing. Salary and location are also matched after the courses are taken and then jobs are recommended. The candidate’s profile is also shared with the employer. The project is still in private preview.
