Hyderabad : Not just Hyderabad but lesser known districts of Telangana are gradually emerging as start-up hubs with Samsung identifying several app developers from these districts for further mentoring as part of the MoU signed between the company and the Telangana Academy of Skill and Training (TASK) earlier this month.
Over 500 youth and 75 faculty members from across Telangana were provided skill development training on Samsung’s Tizen OS platform and three app developers were shortlisted for mentoring at T-Hub, considered the biggest incubator in the country.
These apps are Girlish that provides a one stop shop on beauty options for women, Target MBA which provides information about the course curriculum and list of colleges, while Yummy Foods was the third app to be shortlisted of the over 90 apps that were created and uploaded on the Tizen Store by the engineering students. Apps developed by the students were on diverse topics that included religion, beauty and public services among others.
Sujiv Nair, CEO of TASK, termed it a proud moment as the apps were developed by students from Medak, Khammam, Nizamabad and Ranga Reddy districts as a testimony of the talent potential available in Telangana.
Samsung mobile phones were also handed over to master trainers from TASK and the shortlisted students who made their presentations on Monday before of a panel of members from Samsung, T-Hub and TASK.
IT and Industries Minister KT Rama Rao, who was present at the event, interacted with the students and also reiterated the government’s commitment for enhancing skills through TASK.Deepak , vice-president of Samsung, said they were delighted with the success of the first Tizen skilling pilot in India and would be keen for setting up a Tizen Academy and create a steady supply of talent from TASK to T-Hub to enhance innovation ecosystem.
