Islamabad : The DigiSkills Programme initiated by Ministry of Information Technology would train one million youth in various skill development programmes, enabling them to find out ways for income generation and economic empowerment.
The projects, scheduled to start soon, are aimed at imparting Information training skills in different short and long courses through online modules among youngsters across the country. An official of IT ministry informed APP that the first batch of DigiSkills Training Project will start in May.
The major training modules and courses include Digital Literacy, Digital Marketing, Search Engine Optimization (SEO), AutoCAD, WordPress, QuickBooks, Graphics Design, Creative Writing , E-Commerce Management and Freelancing.
Program would help equip the freelancers, students, professionals, etc. with knowledge, skills, tools and techniques necessary to seize the opportunities available internationally in online jobs marketplaces and also locally to earn a decent living, he added.
He further stated that Telenor Pakistan and Pakistan Telecommunication Company Limited (PTCL) had inked a separate Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Virtual University of Pakistan to provide broadband and internet services at reduced costs to those getting enrolled under the DigiSkills program.
Meanwhile, Ignite signed another MoU with Akhuwat Foundation, under which the latter would provide upto Rs 100,000 interest free soft loans for purchase of laptops and mobiles to benefit participants of the DigiSkills programme.
The programme would create online employment opportunities to enable youth to earn US $200 to $300 per month, he said. This amount could be raised to $1,000 per month in case the information technology is adopted, he said adding, with the help of this programme, youth from across the country will provide services across the globe.
