Lend A Hand India requires to deploy Officer (Skill Education & CSR) – Samagra Shiksha

Position reports to: State Project Director – Samagra Shiksha (State Dept of Education)

Location: Gandhinagar, Gujarat

Travel: 30-40% within state

Background about Samagra Shiksha:
Main objectives of Gov of India’s scheme of “Vocationalisation of secondary and higher secondary education” under “Samagra Shiksha” are (i) to enhance the employability of youth through demand driven competency based modular vocational courses, (ii) to maintain their competitiveness through provisions of multi-entry multi-exit learning opportunities and vertical mobility/ interchangeability in qualifications, (iii) to fill the gap between educated and employable and (iv) to reduce the dropout rate at the secondary level.

Under the aegis of the MOU signed between Department of Education  and Lend A Hand India, the selected candidate will be part of Lend A Hand India’s team and will be deputed at Department of Education – Samagra Shksha Office as part of the state level PMU to manage the implementation of scheme of vocational education in the respective state/locations. The same candidate will also be responsible for helping raise CSR funding for educational initiatives in the states.

Lend A Hand India has entered has also entered into another MoU with the Samagra Shiksha (Gujarat) to provide consulting and management support to formulate and implement CSR supported initiatives by the Department. Under the purview of this MoU, Lend A Hand India is looking for a consultant to work with the Department to help formulate and execute CSR strategy for the Department.

Note: The consulting contract will be between the candidate and Lend A Hand India and NOT between the candidate and the State Department of Education / Samagra Shiksha (Gujarat)

Job Description:
This position is responsible to coordinate the vocational education project as part of Samagra Shiksha. The consultant will assist to develop a strategic roadmap to execute the project, coordinate with the field staff monitoring and tracking, manage data collection, coordinate with external parties (NSDC, Sector Skill Councils, Vocational Training Providers, PSSCIVE etc.) for successful delivery of vocational education project in the state.

The candidate will also work  with the Department to help formulate and execute CSR strategy viz (1)  Prepare a strategic roadmap for the department to mobilize resources through CSR (2) Document and create repository of innovative education related projects within and outside Gujarat (3) Identify funding sources interested in working for the cause of Education and fund the innovative education projects through CSR (4) Establish linkages between the industry and the schools (5) Monitoring and follow up of such funded projects

Qualification:

  • 3-5+ years of work experience (private sector/social enterprise/implementation of government schemes)
  • Proven interest and track record in the area of skill development
  • Past experience of working with government agencies, especially at the state level
  • Past experience of strategizing and implementing CSR activities.
  • Fluency in English
  • Working knowledge of Gujarati (preferred but not mandatory)
  • Past Project management experience
  • Past experience of working with senior management
  • Excellent computer skills (PowerPoint, Word, Excel)
