Rajamahendravaram : Chairman and Managing Director of Andhra Pradesh State Skill Development Corporation (APSSDC) Prof Ghanta Subba Rao informed that 200 skill development centres, including 30 in twin Godavari district would be set up to enhance skills among the students to provide employment.
He participated in a workshop at Adikavi Nannaya University, here on Wednesday. Speaking on the occasion, Prof Subba Rao said that APSSDC has been formed to solve the problems emerged due to the bifurcation of the State and added that awareness meetings were being conducted with regard to skill development.
Principal consultant of APSSDC Dr Sailaja explained the importance of skill development centres and cleared the doubts of the students.East Godavari collector H Arun Kumar called upon the APSSDC to involve unemployed youth outside colleges in skill development programmes along with college going students.
Registrar of Nannaya University A Narasimha Rao observed that more students would join colleges, if APSSDC provide employment in colleges. He called upon the managements of the colleges to make efforts to enhance the skills through APSSDC. Deans Y Srinivasa Rao and Prof Teki, principal Suresh Verma, placement cell officials Dr B Jaganmohan Reddy, Dr Ramaneswari and Dr J.N Padmavati were present on the occasion.
