Atma Nirbhar Skill Summit was organized to promote self reliance among youth

Atma Nirbhar Skill Summit 2020 was jointly organized by Krishna Prasad Foundation, Fair Trade Forum- India and Yuvaan Skill Advisory on 4-5th July with an underlying theme of promoting entrepreneurship in India. The event saw the participation of over 120 delegates from budding entrepreneurs, businesspersons, members of incubation centres from prestigious institutions, skill training partners and college students who want to establish their startup etc.

The main objective of Atma Nirbhar Skill Summit 2020 was to deliver the clarion call by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi of making India “Self-Reliant” and economic powerhouse by encouraging youths towards entrepreneurship through providing networking platform, idea nurturing, fund raising and industry mentorship to budding entrepreneurs/start-ups which the summit has successfully achieved.

There was a total of 10 sessions held, each session having 3-5 eminent speakers. The summit was attended by over 30 eminent speakers which included government ministers and secretaries, budding entrepreneurs, founders of startups and social sector organizations, heads of education bodies like AICTE and AIU, cooperative bodies and industry bodies, senior members of Agriculture Sector Skill Council, incubation centres and academia etc.

The summit was a two-day affair. It started with a formal inauguration by Shri Chaudhary Uday Bhan Singh, Hon’ble Minister of State for Khadi and Villages Industries, Sericulture Industries, Textile, MSME, Export Promotion, Govt. of Uttar Pradesh, where he briefed about the importance of self-reliance and the efforts made by the UP government by assigning each product a district can produce to bring economic prosperity and generate employment for the locals. Hon’ble Minister also thanked the ANSS 2020 core committee for organizing the summit and providing a common platform to like-minded people and budding entrepreneurs.

Further discussion by the panel happened on bringing focus towards skill teaching for making youth employable and promoting entrepreneurship which was moderated by Mr. Krishna Prasad Tenneti, Chairman, Core Committee, Atma-Nirbhar Skill Summit 2020. Moreover, a session where founders of agri-startups shared their insights to align business ideas with the nation’s priority. In the last session of day one Shri Shyam Rajak,

Hon’ble Minister for Industries Government of Bihar pondered on skill training strategy for returned migrant labourers to expedite economic growth and prosperity.

Second and last day of the summit largely focused on the contribution of cooperative, fair trade organisations and NGOs in creating employment and making people self-reliant. Mr. Dilip Chenoy, Secretary-General of FICCI chaired a session on teaching and training of skills based on industry demand. In the subsequent session, speakers deliberated on ways to foster a self-reliance cycle where five steps of self-reliance cycle were emphasized. The steps are Education, Business Opportunities, Incubation & Fund-Raising, Employability Skills and Entrepreneurial Spirit.

The summit was interactive for the delegates and participants overwhelmingly appreciated the efforts of ANSS team for organizing the summit which guided them to move ahead in their endeavours. The summit opened the pathways for the youth to get mentorship from retired bureaucrats & industry leaders which shall also guide them in raising funds. The summit was successfully able to establish as a platform which has now become a small community supporting each other in their endeavour of becoming entrepreneurs. The team intends to take it to a bigger level in coming times.

Subrahmanyam, Secretary, Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Prof. Vaibhav Bhamoriya, Chairperson PGP – IIM Kashipur, Addl. Director, member of Governing Council, Agri Skill Council of India (ASCI), Prof. Anil D Sahasrabudhe, Chairman, AICTE, Prof. Neharika Vohra, IIM Ahmedabad Board Member, CIIE Initiatives, Mr. Kunal Silku, IAS Mission Director, UPSDM, Mr. Dilip Chenoy, Secretary General, FICCI, Mr. Basab Banerjee, Co-Founder at Magic Billion TVET Expert, Leadership Coach and other dignitaries from various domains.

The summit was concluded with emphasizing on the importance of becoming self-reliant and need to develop an ecosystem for incubation of new business ideas & taking them to their logical conclusion and a vote of thanks by ANSS 2020 core committee member to the delegates and speakers who enriched the summit by sharing insightful knowledge and experience.
