Entry qualification reduced from 10th passed to 8th passed for various ITI courses

New Delhi : Referring the meeting of Recommendation Committee on ‘Norms & Courses’ where “Changing of Entry Qualification (10th passed to 8th passed) for the trades under Craftsmen Training Scheme (CTS)” was discussed, Directorate General of Training (DGT) under Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship has approved to reduce the existing entry qualification from 10th class to 8th pass from the session starting August 2020. The trades under CTS considered for this relaxed entry criteria are:

Plumber
Welder
Dress Making
Sewing Technology
Painter
Surface Ornamentation Techniques (Embroidery)

DGT has requested all State / UTs Directorates / RDSDEs / Director(s) / HoDs / Principals of NSTIs dealing with Craftsmen Training Scheme are requested to change the above qualification i.e. 8th passed in place of 10th passed in their portals as well as database and circulate / disseminate the same information to all Govt. / Private ITIs for wider publicity. This qualification would be applicable for the session August 2020 and onward.
