A one-day seminar was organized by FICCI and Roland Berger, a leading global consulting firm jointly organized a day-long seminar to discuss and ideate on how BRICS nations can collaborate for initiatives on skill development related to Industry 4.0. The seminar was in line with the objective of BRICS Skill Development Working Group (SDWG), under the chairmanship of Mr. M.S. Unnikrishnan, MD & CEO, Thermax Group.
With adoption of Industry 4.0, a number of skill-related challenges are also expected to surface. To successfully tackle these challenges, BRICS SDWG is working with Roland Berger to develop a whitepaper to assess the current state of Industry 4.0 in the BRICS nations and to provide recommendations for skill development for Industry 4.0.
The discussion at the seminar revolved development of multilateral projects and collaboration opportunities for skill development in BRICS nations. Various stakeholders like government officials, industry stalwarts and academicians from all five nations participated. Some of the companies who attended the seminar were Festo, Siemens, Reliance Industries, Agency of Strategic Initiative, Russia, Beijing ARC Xinxing Science & Technology, China, Adcorp, South Africa and several others.
The deliberations from the seminar will be leveraged to develop the recommendations for the BRICS countries. The whitepaper will be launched on 14th October in the BRICS business summit along with the signing of the MOU among the BRICS countries to initiate the collaborative efforts on skill development.
