India sets up Apparel Training Centre in Nigeria to promote skill development under Cotton TAP program for Africa

India has set up an Apparel Training Centre at Kadunia in Nigeria under the Cotton Technical Assistance Programme (Cotton TAP) for Africa.

The programme is being implemented by the Department of Commerce, Government of India under 2nd India Africa Forum Summit, an official press release said. The first-of-its-kind center, set up in partnership with the Government of Nigeria, was inaugurated on June 22.

Mr M K Dwivedi, Joint Secretary in the Department of Commerce, said that the centre was aimed at supporting and catalyzing the initiative of the Government of Nigeria in realizing the objectives to rebuild the cotton and textile value chain and addressing the need for skilled workforce for domestic as well as export-oriented apparel industry in the west African region.
