Indian Embassy organizes skill development conclave in Oman

More than 100 people including senior government officials, staff members of the Indian Embassy and representatives of private organizations took part in a conclave organized under the theme ‘India-Oman Skill Development’ by India-Oman Business forum.

The conclave was organized on Sunday evening at the premises of Indian Embassy.

H E Sheikh Khalid bin Omar bin Said al Marhoon, Oman’s Minister of Civil Service was the chief guest of the event.

The event was primarily organized to showcase Indian private players’ skill development capabilities in various fields, and to help them liaise with organizations in Oman who are looking at enhancing skills for their employees or are in the business of providing training. Speaking on the occasion, India’s Ambassador to Oman H E Indra Mani Pandey lauded the efforts made by both the governments in increasing trade and cooperation.

He said the idea of organizing this conclave is to highlight the importance of skill development for both India and Oman. For India, skill development has been given high priority particularly by the present government, which came to power in May 2014.

Under the skill development mission, the government plans to impart skills to over 400mn Indians to make them employable. It is a mammoth task but the government is committed to achieve this. “Today’s event has been organized to highlight the fact that in India there are capabilities in skilling people, and there are opportunities available for Oman to benefit from them. I personally believe that skill development could be an area where both countries can collaborate with each other.”

Speaking on the occasion, H E Marhoon said he is thankful to H E Pandey for inviting him for the event. He reiterated his support for collaboration between the two countries.
