The government is establishing 11 skill centres in Tarn Taran district to make youth job-ready for various vocations and reduce unemployment.
Presiding over a meeting with senior district officials to review various ongoing development projects, deputy commissioner Balwinder Singh Dhaliwal made this announcement. The construction of these centres will start soon, he said. “These centres will enable the rural youth to make both ends meet and become independent. It will help in reducing frustration among the youth, thereby preventing drug abuse, which is prevalent in the border belt,” said Dhaliwal.
Additional deputy commissioner (development) Ranbir Singh Mudhal, sub-divisional magistrates Amandeep Singh Bhatti, Ravinder Singh and Hardeep Singh Dhaliwal and assistant deputy commissioner Amarinder Singh Tiwana were present at the meeting.
