Andhra Government signed MoU with 22 Skill Development firms, also announced Social Empowerment Center

Andhra Pradesh : The State government will identify all jobless youth and provide them with necessary skills to bag decent jobs in the private sector or become entrepreneurs themselves in the wake of limited jobs in the public sector, according to Social Welfare Minister Ravela Kishore Babu.

“We are on a hunting spree to spot all jobless youth and provide them with appropriate skills to improve their employ-ability,” he said after inaugurating a Rs. 4.25 crore Social Empowerment Centre. It was constructed with MPLADS funds from former Union Minister and Rajya Sabha member J.D. Seelam, who had also mobilized CSR funds from public sector undertakings like BHEL, NHPC, NLC and RINL for the benefit of Dalit youth.

Lauding the MP’s efforts for empowerment of Dalits, he said, “Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu is very particular on tapping CSR(Corporate Social Responsibility) funds from the public and private sector firms to provide best of infrastructure in Navya Andhra overcoming resource crunch.”

“We have entered into a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with 22 skill development firms which have committed to provide jobs to at least 70 per cent of the trainees,” he said, adding that “the government is ready to spend even Rs. 2 lakh per student passing out of colleges to train them for high-end jobs.” He announced Rs. 1.20 crore to create infrastructure at the Social Empowerment Centre to prepare Dalit students also for civil services and other competitive examinations and nurture first generation Dalit entrepreneurs.

At least one lakh youth would be imparted training this year to ensure placements for them in reputed companies, added State SC Finance Corporation Chairman Jupudi Prabhakar Rao.
