CM flags off 6 km Entrepreneurial Walkathon-2016

Dehradun (Uttrakhand) : Chief minister Harish Rawat flagged off the 6 km Entrepreneurial Walkathon-2016 from Clock Tower to Dilaram Crossing in the state capital on Monday. The Walkathon was organized to encourage youths in the state to set up small scale industries.

The event was organized jointly by the Uttarakhand Industries Association and the state industry department. The move aims to give impetus to opening small scale units based on skill development in the state to create new venue of income generation for the youth.

While flagging off the race, Rawat said that the youth must take an interest in setting up small scale units to produce different utility items to enhance their income. “It is high time for youths in the state to run their own business to not only enhance income generation but also to generate employment for others.”

Rawat added that the state government has launched several schemes that will impart skill development training to youth before they set up small scale units. “With the help of various schemes, the state will have 50,000 professionally-trained hands who will be established as entrepreneurs by 2022,” said Rawat.

He asked youngsters to take maximum advantage of the state and centrally-sponsored schemes under which subsidized loans are given to those planning to run their own small scale units across the state.
