Coimbatore : The Coimbatore chapter of FICCI Ladies Organisation (FLO), the women’s wing of Federation of Indian Chamber of Commerce & Industry (FICCI), will provide skill development training free of cost to 100 women.
In a press interaction, FLO announced that the women would be provided training in driving, tailoring, non-teaching jobs in schools and beautician. Twenty five women would be chosen for the training in each vertical and be given a certificate at the end of the training programme.
“We will also use our contacts and networks to get them placed,” said FLO, Coimbatore, chairperson, Devika Ramesh. Past chairperson, Lakshmi Ramachandran said this system “goes with FLO’s mission to change women’s lives by empowering them.” Devika also said that FLO had already provided training in tailoring to more than 100 women and a new batch of 25 women has just started.
“FLO also plans to try creating an industrial park exclusively for women entrepreneurs. We will be approaching the state government seeking allotment of land for the project,” she said.
FICCI Ladies Organisation (FLO) will also help the women get placed after the training. In future, they might also be given an opportunity to get some space in the women’s industrial parks which FLO’s Make in India wing plans to establish.
