Bhubaneshwar : The project approval committee of Odisha State Employment Mission on Thursday approved three new skill development proposals for the current financial year.
Proposal of the Department for Social Security and Empowerment for Persons with Disabilities (PwDs) for skill development training of persons with disability got the approval of the committee. As many as 360 differently-able persons will be trained in trades like tally, basic computer, domestic appliance repairing and other soft skill programmes through vocational rehabilitation centre for handicapped. The training will be imparted as per the modular employable scheme (MES) models involving a cost of 73.78 lakh. The committee headed by Chief Secretary AP Padhi also approved the proposal of Higher Education Department for skill training of 2,330 students of 231 junior vocational colleges in 12 trades. The Government will provide 4.42 crore for their training.
The committee also approved Commerce and Transport Department proposal to train 800 persons in heavy motor vehicle driving. Persons in the age group of 20-40 years having minimum qualification of Class VIII will be eligible for the training. The training programme is estimated to cost 1.24 crore. Besides, 2000 progressive farmers of the State will be provided training for entrepreneurship development in horticulture. The training module will be one and half months duration. The training programmes will commence from June, said project director of the Employment Mission G Rajesh.
The State Employment Mission has decided to host the list of trained persons in different skills on its website to enable the public to source trained persons for their service.
