Ahmedabad (Gujarat) : In a meeting of the board of governors of Gujarat Technological University (GTU), it was decided that the varsity will offer part-time courses in skill development. The move came on the lines of the government of India’s ‘Skill India Mission’. In addition to part-time courses, the varsity officials are mulling over introducing three-year full-time courses for skill development in various sectors. This will be akin to diploma courses, however, they will have relatively less focus on theoretical aspects and will instead emphasize industry-specific knowledge. However, institutions which are accredited from National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) as well as AICTE will be permitted to offer these course.
