Bengaluru : Mysuru district will soon get a skill development institute which will be set up by Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU), Belagavi.VTU authorities have sent a proposal to the state Higher Education Department for administrative approval to set up the institute at Choranahalli in Mysuru district.
Mysore Urban Development Authority (MUDA) had provided 34 acres to VTU long ago for this purpose, but since there was no progress on the land, MUDA authorities recently contacted VTU officials. VTU Vice-chancellor Prof Karisiddappa said, “MUDA officials contacted me recently to get information on how we are going to utilize the land. If we do not start construction, we might lose the land.”
According to VTU officials, once they receive administrative approval from the government, they will prepare project details along with the estimated cost. The university’s aim is to produce industry-ready engineering graduates using the skill development institute. “There will be various kinds of training available through this institute using which students can go out as market-ready graduates,” Karisiddappa explained.

At least 6 months of training during or after course
Communication skills to be given priority
Any student studying in a VTU-affiliated college can join
