Kerala Minister handover 290 Crore skill development plan to Ministry of Skills, KASE, upgrade of ITI, on cards

Thiruvananthapuram (Kerala) : Broad projects for employment and skill development will be executed with the help of the centre, said Minister T P Ramakrishnan. Skill developmental activities carried under the Kerala Academy for Skill & Excellence (KASE) coming under the labour department would be co-ordinated and would be elevated as multi-skill institutes. The minister informed this after holding talks with Rajiv Prathap Rudy, Minister of State (Independent Charge for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship).

Rudy assured top consideration to Kerala in Prime Minister’s Kaushal Vikas Yojana, the new project. Steps to install ITIs like PPP model at Karadukka in Kasargod and Madayi in Kannur would be speeded up. Courses which do not have NCVT affiliation in ITIs would be considered. The minister handed over a memorandum requesting the centre for a help of 290 crore for skill development plan.

Rudy has informed that he would visit Kerala and hold talks with many including the chief minister on employment and skill development sector. Additional chief secretary Tom Jose and additional labour commissioner Dr G L Muraleedharan will partake in the discussions.
