MoRD lead Nagaland State Rural Livelihood Mission(NSRLM) launched NRLM programme for skill wage and self employment

Nagaland State Rural Livelihoods Mission (NSRLM), RD Block-Wokha comprises of 18 recognized villages has been taken up as a new intensive block for implementation of NRLM programme for the FY 16-17, a NRSLM press note informed.

National Rural Livelihoods Mission (NRLM), rural poverty alleviation programme undertaken by the Ministry of Rural Development (MoRD) with a mission to reach out to the ‘Poorest of the Poor’ and to organize the poor households into their own institutions where the members will harness their potentials also, enabling them to access gainful self-employment, skilled wage employment opportunities and come out of poverty, it added. It informed that, launching the program, Rollan Lotha, Chief Operating Officer (COO)-NSRLM and District in-charge, convened district level consultative meeting with, the Project Director, District Project officer, Block Development officer’s, NSRLM-Block Mission Management Unit and District Mission management unit and shared the implementation strategies of the program.

The COO along with the Block Staff also organized consultative meetings with the Village stake holders, village functionaries, SHGs and women folks in the village to discuss effective strategies to roll out the program in the respective villages, it said. The NSRLM team also visited Englan Range covering 7 villages, followed by Wokha Village, Longsachung, Okhyeyan, Niriyo, Longsa, Humtso and Elumyo village organizing combined meetings wherever convenient between April 14-24 in which he stressed on the objectives of the Mission and said that corresponding values of transparency, honesty, unity, cooperation and ownership of the program by the community can only bring about the success of the mission benefiting every targeted households and the community as a whole. He further mentioned the various benefits of the Program which includes, Start Up Cost, Revolving Fund, Community Investment Fund and Credit Linkage from the Bank through Interest Subvention.

The programme is scheduled to take effect in the month of June – July 2016 for full-scale activities through village stays, household visits and collections of various profiles by the Area-Coordinators along with Community Resource Persons from the Resource Block, the press note further noted.
