Nagaland CM assured to assist out of the Corpus Fund to youth genuinely interested in getting skilled

Dimapur : Nagaland State Chief Minister, Neiphiu Rio, on Saturday commended the Nagaland Tool Room & Training Centre (NTTC), Dimapur for imparting skill training to more than 4000 youth out of which 70% have been given job placements since its inception in 2006. He said that the Centre has contributed to the growth of small scale sector in Nagaland.

Speaking after inaugurating the upgradation of NTTC Dimapur under a central scheme, Rio said Nagaland was a ‘youthful state’ looking at entrepreneurship and skill enhancement to help find jobs. He recognized Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) as an important component of the economy contributing around 6.11% of the manufacturing GDP and 24.63% of the GDP from service activities as well as 33.4% of India’s manufacturing output.

The Chief Minister said that balanced and equitable growth was possible only when the marginalized sections of the society were enabled to envision, create and build up entrepreneurial ventures so that even the youth in remote locations like Nagaland become a participant in the growth.

He said the State Government was trying to address some of the gaps by setting up Investment and Development Authority of Nagaland which would be organizing the First North East Summit on Developing the Region through power entrepreneurship on December 20 and 21 in Dimapur, in association with the UN Global Compact Network India.

Rio encouraged the youth to get skilled and become job providers instead of job seekers. He assured to assist youngsters out of the Corpus fund for those who are genuinely interested in getting skilled in various fields. “We do not need to start big but with commitment,” he added.

Secretary, MSME GoI, Dr. Arun Kumar said that the ministry was keen to invest more money for enterprising youth. He informed that MSME was the second largest in employment generation next to agriculture.

Advisor, Industries & Commerce and Chairman NIDC, Imnatiba said that the department was planning to set a proposal for extended campus of NTTC to generate more skills and employment.
