Patiala : In order to make youth highly employable and competent, a ‘rozgar mela’ (employment fair) was organized at Government ITI, Patiala. The District Administration organized the fair under the Punjab Skill Development Mission in collaboration with Sahaj-e-Village Limited.
As many as 12 companies – Vardhman Textile Ltd, ISON BPO, Reliable First, A-1 Security Services, SMC Global, United Life Insurance, LIC, HDFC, Virasat Security Services, Global Alliance, Big Bazaar and Capital Trust – took part in the fair and arranged face-to-face interview. Over 700 candidates got registered for the fair and around 265 candidates got selected for jobs.
Sandeep Rishi, Additional Deputy Commissioner (Development, Patiala, inaugurated the event and motivated the unemployed youth to get registered for the ‘rozgar mela’. He also interacted with employers.
He said unemployed youth could seek free skill development training at Sahaj Skill Development Centre, Patiala, and also get opportunities for placement under the Punjab Skill Development Mission.
Gurmit Kaur Shegill, Deputy Director Employment and Exchange, VK Bansal, principal, Government ITI (Boys), Ravinder Singh, principal, Government Polytechnic (Girls), Rajesh Mittal, APO (M), District Manager Harinder Pratap, were among others present on the occasion.
