Rs 10 crores contributed towards skill development by GAIL in Andhra Pradesh

GAIL, state-run gas utility, has contributed Rs 10 crore towards skill development and livelihood generation for the youth of Andhra Pradesh, the company said in a release on Monday. Company chairman B C Tripathi handed over a cheque to chief minister Chandra Babu Naidu at Delhi’s Andhra Bhavan on Sunday. The contribution has been made to APSSDC as part of GAIL’s CSR initiative. Company director (HR) M Ravindran and executive director (CSR) Vandana Chanana as well as senior state government officials were also present on the occasion.

The objective of the project is to enhance the employ-ability of youth through provision of high quality, globally relevant vocational training for 2,000 candidates for training in various specialized jobs in the oil and gas sector.

In Andhra Pradesh alone, GAIL implemented many programmes such as concrete road construction at four locations in East Godavari region, besides providing bore well pumping main and generator, LED lights, construction of rooms of the school and compound wall during the last year. Under GAIL Kaushal Scheme, 317 beneficiaries were registered in GAIL Institute of Skills,. GAIL operates mobile medical van for 25 villages benefiting more than 25,000 patients for free medical services, while Health Camp and free eye checking camp were also organised.
