Skill development centre inaugurated by Union Minister Giriraj Singh

Union Minister of State (Micro Small and Medium Enterprises) Giriraj Singh inaugurated a Hall of Technology and Skill Development Centre inside IBSD complex, Takyelpat.

Speaking at the occasion, the Minister exhorted the students of IBSD to work hard to become successful entrepreneurs in their respective fields. He said that scientists normally work day and night in their laboratories until their projects are complete.

On the other hand, the Minister said that it is easy to manufacture products but marketing is tough.

Giriraj Singh said, “Everybody require foodstuff but very few people want to practice agriculture, every one wants to have safe drinking water but no one thinks about conserving water.” Encouraging the Sakura project being undertaken by IBSD, the Union Minister asked the authority of the institute to make IBSD complex as an avenue of Cherry Blossom flowers. He also urged the people of the State to tap these resources and bring development, saying that Manipur is rich in natural resources..

Soon after his arrival at IBSD complex, he inspected the office building of the institute and interacted with scientists and officials.

IBSD Director Dinabandhu Sahu said, IBSD has become a promising institute which explores the bio-resources of the North East region due to the hard work of the staff, scientists and students of the institute. Economic development can be brought in the North East region without much effort as the region is so rich in bio-resources, he observed.

Speaking at the function, he said that the institute was established during the tenure of the last NDA Government in 2001. IBSD would put in effort to bring prosperity of the State through these resources, he said.

The Director further said that a month-long bamboo crafts training programme would be held at the IBSD complex for unemployed youth soon. He said that there are lots of demand for bamboo craft items of the State in foreign countries.
