Telangana Academy for Skill and Knowledge (TASK) to expand its horizons beyond IT-ITes, will also focus sectors like pharma, banking and finance, manufacturing and aerospace

Hyderabad (Telangana) : The Telangana Academy for Skill and Knowledge (TASK) is expanding its horizons beyond Information Technology (IT) into other sectors like pharma, banking and finance, manufacturing and aerospace.

Taking a step forward in this direction, TASK has collaborated with pharmaceutical companies – both big and small – to train their professionals and has also partnered with CallHealth Services who have taken on board 44 of the unemployed youth trained by TASK.

Speaking on the sidelines of the pilot programme, TASK Chief Executive Officer Sujiv Nair said, “We have been scouting for associations and training youth in the areas other than IT and pharma was the first sector we zeroed in on. Going ahead, we are also looking at training and skilling youth in the areas of Banking and Finance, Manufacturing and Aerospace. We have a plan of also setting up two TASK centres in Telangana districts by end of this year.”

TASK is scouting for prospective partners to skill and train professionals for the same. Without divulging details about the partnerships, Nair informed, “We are looking at prospective collaborations in these areas and want to employ as many young people as possible.”

Under the pilot programme, RPL was delivered through collaboration between TASK, Life Sciences Skill Development Council, CII Telangana and five pharma and life sciences companies – Dr Reddy’s, Granules India, Covalent Lab, Optimus Pharma and Unique Biotech. Almost 96 quality checking chemists from the above companies were part of the RPL pilot batch that started in December 2016. These chemists appeared for the RPL assessment and 76 of them cleared it.

In addition, TASK has also signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Life Sciences Skill Council, under the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, to further enhance the skilling and training of RPL professionals from both large corporates and small companies.

For the health care skilling pilot, TASK and CallHealth have collaborated to train 50 youth out of whom 44 unemployed youth secured jobs offers as Home Health Officers and Phlebotomy Officers. They underwent training on medical domain, soft skills, communication skills and computers.
