Udham Singh Nagar (Uttrakhand) : A A Hashmi, Auditor – UKSDM and Principal, Government Polytechnic, Sitarganj, inaugurated the Multi-Skill Development Centre at Sitarganj, in Udham Singh Nagar as a part of Uttarakhand Skill Development Mission (UKSDM) which has been providing free skill development training to youth across 13 districts.
In order to address the challenges of unemployment and ensuring gainful employment for the youth of the state, the state government plans to target 6.5 lakh youth and provide employment opportunities while promoting self-entrepreneurship.
Operations of the center will be managed by Centum Learning. Initially, Multi-Skill Development Centre will offer skilling in only one job role – Solar Photo-Voltaic Installer – Suryamitra which has a very high demand in market. The ‘Suryamitra job role’ comes under the Green jobs that contribute to preserve or restore the environment. It is the need of the hour as the renewable energy sector itself is likely to have two million green jobs in next 10 years. To help implementation of Government of India’s mission, Centum Learning has commenced skilling under UKSDM, where enthusiastic candidates have already enrolled for the courses.
The centre will be interviewing youth to shortlist and train candidates in different batches spanning three months. Infrastructure at the state-of-the-art Solar lab includes Digital Earth Resistance Tester, Digital Clamp Meter and safety equipment like Nose Mask, Harness. Basis it’s experience in the skilling landscape for over a decade now, Centum Learning has designated a person exclusively for counseling keeping in mind the humongous volume of motivation and inspiration required for youth.
Speaking on the occasion Sanjeev Duggal, CEO and MD, Centum Learning said “I strongly believe that skilling in India is akin to evangelizing. We have been actively involved in mobilizing youth in various parts of India for a long time now. But this is the first time that we are venturing into Uttarakhand, keeping in mind the high literacy rate of youth where women are almost at par with men as far as literacy is concerned.”
He further added “We will soon be setting up many more centres in different parts of Uttrakhand so that youth need not travel far to get employability linked training and also help them find jobs in the vicinity.”
