NSDC training partner Globsyn Knowledge Foundation organized 3rd National Skills Convocation

The 3rd National Skills Convocation was organized by the Kolkata-based Globsyn Knowledge Foundation in association with Globsyn Skills, a joint venture between the Globsyn Group and the National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC), and also eastern India’s largest skill development organization.

The Chief Guest for the 3rd National Skills Convocation was Mr. Ranjan Choudhury, Head – Investing and Incentivizing and Head – WorldSkills India, National Skill Development Corporation. The Guests of Honour was Dr. Subrata Kumar Dey, Vice Chancellor, Maulana Abul Kalam Azad University of Technology.

At this Convocation, the achievements of more than 1500 trainees who had been a part of Globsyn’s skill development programmes nationally during the year 2015-16 – in sectors like IT/ITeS, banking, tourism and hospitality, beauty and wellness, logistics, retail and several others – were recognized and acknowledged through the award of certificates. While Globsyn has successfully connected 10000+ skills trainees with job opportunities during the year, 20 of them received job offers from well-known corporate organizations at the event.

Following Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s vision of ‘Skill India’, and his mandate of making vocational skills aspirational, the National Skills Convocation was first organized in 2014, conceptualized and introduced by Globsyn with the mission of ‘Making Skills Aspirational’; the 2nd National Skills Convocation aimed at ‘Connecting Skills and Jobs Together’, while the 3rd National Skills Convocation, held today, aimed to ‘Integrate Industry and Learners Together’. The underlying objective of organizing National Skills Convocations is that it acts as catalysts for neutralizing real or perceived differences among the youth coming from diverse backgrounds through the recognition of vocational training, and by making it aspirational among the youth to whom skills training is imparted.

Since 2014, the National Skills Convocations have provided these trainees, under Globsyn’s various skill development programmes, a visible platform not only for the acknowledgement and recognition of their achievements, but also for the improvement of their self-image, the development of their self-confidence, and to acquire a sense of empowerment.

Moreover, these Convocations have been viewed by Globsyn as opportunities to recognize and acknowledge the vitally important roles of its training partners, its own training faculty and corporate organizations. As important ‘stakeholders of the skills ecosystem’, they have transformed the lives of the youth who have received skills training – with the training partners mobilizing them, the training faculty ‘delivering’ to them and making their skills an economically viable livelihood option.

Rahul Dasgupta, Joint Managing Director, Globsyn Group said, “In order to attain the objectives of the Skill India mission as conceived of by our Hon’ble Prime Minister, Globsyn has been striving to recognize, certify and celebrate the efforts of the successful participants in its vocational training programmes through the National Skills Convocation. We will continue to organize similar events, which provide a forum for connecting the industry to the learner community and contribute towards making vocational training aspirational.”
