Hyderabad: A woman entrepreneur, M Ashwini, was given Rs 1 crore loan at the job mela organized by the Union Ministry of Labour and Employment and National Institute of Career Services, held at Keshav Memorial High School here on Saturday.
Ashwini will be setting up a manufacturing unit of high-density fiber pipes in the city. The State Bank of Hyderabad has provided the loan under the Startup and StandUp scheme of the Union government.
Minister of State for Labour and Employment Bandaru Dattatreya handed over cheques to the beneficiaries. Speaking on the occasion, he said the women should not only look for jobs but also become entrepreneurs and provide employment to the unemployed. The job mela, fourth one in a span of two years, was a huge success, he said. The one on Saturday was exclusively for women.
Out of the 4,300 registrations, 1,600 offer letters were given to women from different backgrounds. Prominent companies that took part in the job mela included Sure IT, Amazon, Flipkart, Hgs (International) TapadiaTech, Panzer Technologies, TBSS Karvy, Merlin, KUN United, Instaemi, Advent Global among others.
Seven nationalized banks – SBI, SBH, Andhra Bank, Canara Bank, Indian Bank, Syndicate Bank, Bank of India and Allahabad Bank officials provided guidance to women entrepreneurs on how to go about availing themselves of loans.
A total of 40 Mudra loans were also sanctioned at the venue. K Dilip Kumar, ex-MLC and All India ESIC board member, said, “The job melas would be organized in all district headquarters and those candidates who were not successful in bagging jobs would be provided skills and necessary training.”
About 14 skill companies were roped in to train prospective candidates in batches. The data of unsuccessful candidates would be integrated with the National Career Council Centre (NCCC) and the candidates would be sent information of vacancies and training programmes, according to organizers.
Not just students, even women, who took a break from job, turned up for the job mela to try their luck. Kanchana, 33, from Nacharam said, “I was told that there are multiple vacancies.
