Kathua : District Development Commissioner Kathua, Ramesh Kumar rolled out Skill Development Programme under Tribal Sub Plan (TSP) for financial year 2016-17 at a meeting of concerned officers.
The Deputy Commissioner informed the meeting that for the very first time the Basohli Paintings have been added in the list of Vocational Training Course to be imparted under Skill Development Programme of this year Tribal Sub Plan (TSP). He further briefed that the one year course of Basohli painting will be started in ITI Kathua under which two batches of 21 students from Schedule Tribe Population will be imparted training in the traditional art. He said the initiative of including Basohli paintings in the courses will serve twin purposes of saving the dying art as well as providing avenues of self employment to the youth.
It was further informed that under TSP short term courses of Plumbering and Computer Application Trades will be started at ITI Bani, software application and plumbering at ITI Hiranaga , while cutting and tailoring trades would be started at ITI Basohli .
It was also decided that a total of 25 students will be imparted 3 months training in refrigerator repairing trade in Polytechnic College Kathua.
Meanwhile, the DDC passed instructions to PWD (R&B), PDD and PHE departments to complete the pending work at the upcoming ITI building at Bani and hand it over to the authorities within one week time.Note: News shared for public awareness with reference from the information provided at online news portals.
