Jamshedpur: Capital Goods & Strategic Skill Council (CGSSC), in partnership with Tata Consulting Engineers (TCE) launched Project UTKARSH on 07th of August 2026, a CSR-led skilling initiative to equip engineering students with industry-relevant skills and prepare them for careers in India’s growing EPC and manufacturing infrastructure sector.
The programme was inaugurated at the MSME Technology Center, Jamshedpur (Indo Danish Tool Room), in the presence of senior government, industry and skilling leaders from TCE, Arka Jain University, Govt. Polytechnic, Adityapur and IDTR.
Project UTKARSH has been designed to bridge the gap between technical education and industry requirements by offering industry-aligned training in three critical engineering disciplines – Electrical Design & Drafting Technician, Piping & Instrumentation Design Technician, and Structural Design & Drafting Technician. The initiative will benefit technical/vocational students across Delhi-NCR and Jamshedpur, equipping them with industry- relevant competencies and enhancing their employability.
The launch event was attended by Dr. Sanjeev Kumar, Principal, Govt. Polytechnic, Adityapur; Dr. Aswini Kumar, DGM, Arka Jain University; Mr. Manos De, AVP, Tata Consulting Engineers; and Dr. Prof. Angad Tiwary, Vice President, Arka Jain University as Guests of Honour. The programme brought together stakeholders from the education, industry and skilling ecosystem to support the objective of strengthening industry-aligned technical skills among young learners. The event concluded with a Vote of Thanks delivered by Dr. Ram Babu Verma, CSR Training Head, IDTR.
CGSSC is an apex skill body with representation from industries like Larsen & Toubro, MSME, pan-India trade associations for the empowerment of capital goods manufacturing and engineering services, and strategic manufacturing sectors. The recent initiative with TCE (Tata Consulting Engineers) for their ‘UTKARSH’ – a CSR Initiative is a step towards providing industry-skilled workforce, quality training in technical domains for sustainable livelihood within the manufacturing and infrastructure sectors.
CGSSC has developed these programmes in collaboration with TCE by creating specialised trades; Qualification Packs aligned with Skill India. With a portfolio of more than 60 industry-driven Qualification Packs across capital goods, advanced manufacturing, Industry 4.0 and strategic sectors, CGSSC continues to play a pivotal role in developing a future-ready workforce that meets the evolving needs of Indian industry. Through Project UTKARSH, the organisations aim to further strengthen the connection between technical education, industry requirements and career readiness for the next generation of skilled professionals.
