Healthcare Sector Skill Council under NSDC signed memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Indian Army, will impart training to ex-servicemen

Lucknow : In a bid to boost the post-retirement resettlement prospects of its ex-servicemen, Director General Medical Service (DGMS) Army Lieutenant General Velu Nair and Ashish Jain the CEO of the Healthcare Sector Skill Council of National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) recently signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU). The MoU was signed during the two-day visit of Lt Gen Velu Nair, who is also the Colonel Commandant Army Medical Corps (AMC).

This was the first visit of the Lt Gen Nair following his assumption of the appointment of DGMS (Army). Speaking on this occasion Lt Gen Nair lauded this alliance between Armed Forces and NSDC and said it is a humble beginning with the aim to empower the personnel of AMC with necessary recognition of prior learning and certification of their experience in domain specific skill which would certainly help in post-retirement resettlement.

Lt Gen Nair emphasized the role of paramedics of the Army who with their vast experience in uniform can play a major role in the health care sector and thus help in building the nation.

The DGMS (Army) also paid tributes to the brave soldiers of Army Medical Corps who made the supreme sacrifice in their line of duty, at a solemn ceremony by laying a wreath at the cenotaph of the war memorial at AMC Centre and College, Lucknow. He interacted with the young medical officers of the Corps undergoing basic training at the Centre.
