Panaji : Goa government ITI Employees Association has urged the government to affiliate all ITI (industrial training institute) trades in the state to the national council for vocational training (NCVT) as soon as possible, to ensure that Goan youth are not denied jobs and their future is not affected. The association has also requested the government to implement a five-day working week in government ITIs in Goa.
“We are working six days a week without any vacations for Ganesh Chaturthi, Diwali, Christmas. We are entitled to eight days casual leave in a year, instead of 12 days. Our head office works five days a week. According to National Skill Qualification Framework, which structures the schedule for all trades in ITI, industrial training institutes should work for five days a week and accordingly, the timetable has to be set up,” says the letter written by the association to the secretary of skill development and entrepreneurship.
The association has also called for revision of pay scale of instructors and to consider regular appointments for instructors who have completed more than five years of service.
The government must ensure that every trainee who completes the ITI course be given a tool kit similar to the cyber age scheme to encourage self- employment and safety shoes and industrial helmets be provided for every trainee inducted to the ITIs, the letter stated.
