Jammu : Today, J&K Skill Development Mission (JKSDM) in collaboration with Cluster University, Jammu organized one day Career Counselling programme titled “Global Educational Opportunities in Social Sciences” at Government College for Women, Gandhi Nagar, Jammu.
Mission Director, JKSDM Dr. Peer GN Suhail, who is also an international development expert, was the key speaker at the programme and Vice Chancellor Cluster University, Jammu Dr. Anju Bhasin was the Chief Guest for the programme. The other dignitaries who attended the program were Professor Poonam Dhawan, Dean, Academic Affairs, Cluster University- Jammu, Professor Naresh Gupta, Dean, Social Sciences, Cluster University- Jammu, Professor Twinkle Suri, Dean, Students Welfare, Cluster University- Jammu, Mr. Suneet Gupta, Special Secretary to VC, Cluster University, Jammu and Ms. Neelanjana Maanwati, Incharge, Career Counselling & Placement Cell, JKSDM etc.
Dr. Peer Suhail, in his power point presentation, gave detailed information about the different educational courses available within and outside the state and motivated students to pursue higher education in top-notch universities across the globe like Oxford, Harvard, MIT etc. He also emphasized students to dream big and stressed on the fact that the students should select educational courses based on their interest and aptitude and should not opt for courses forced on by their parents.
Dr. Peer Suhail urged students to access the counselling services offered by JKSDM and asked the students to access JKSDM website for enhancing their career opportunities and to update themselves regarding various courses.
Vice Chancellor, Cluster University Dr. Anju Bhasin asked the students to take advantage of the counselling sessions and take right decisions at the right time to be able to compete in the international market.
While appreciating the JKSDM for their efforts Dr. Anju Bhasin said, “We are trying to improve the talent of youth and guide them to get proper education after proper counselling and in this regard, JKSDM has a vital role.”
Ms. Seerat, a student, said, “It was an enriching experience and I am thankful to the authorities for organizing such session”. Ms. Kavita, another student said, “Such sessions should be held on a regular basis and is the need of the hour.”
More than 300 students attended the programme.
