German delegation visited Government Industrial Training Institute

Aurangabad: A German delegation who are on a fact-finding mission to India, recently visited Government Industrial Training Institute (ITI) in the city to assess the possible areas of cooperation.

The institute’s principal Abhijeet Alte on Saturday said that the visit was aimed at understanding possibilities for support in the future regarding skill development.

“The visit was initiated by the German development agency GIZ, in association with the German government. The delegates tried to understand the present working pattern of our institute, our existing association with GIZ and the scope for increasing support and cooperation for future requirement,” he said.

The delegation visited workshops, classrooms, labs and interacted with the students and staff.

“We requested the delegation to support the training of staff in upcoming industrial technologies, like CNC/VMC operation and its programming, Robotics, Industry 4.0 and automation techniques. The delegation sounded very positive and we hope to make tie-ups soon,” Alte said.

The institute authorities also underlined the need for setting up a centre for in-company trainers and establishing a centre for facilitating the dual training and strengthening for apprenticeship courses for students.

“We told German authorities that other areas of cooperate could include teachers’ training for developing training material, exposure visits to Germany to understand the dual-training system offered there, arranging the pilot apprenticeship training in Germany, and revamping and upgrading existing machineries through proper maintenance process,” Alte said.

The German delegation was headed by Daniel Neff, senior technical advisor, German Office for International Cooperation in Vocational Education and Training, whereas other ITI authorities who interacted with the delegation included V S Pawar, S V.Bhonsle and D S Kharat, among other senior faculties.
