In a bid to prepare a future-ready workforce, Union Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal inaugurated a series of skill development and AI-enabled employment initiatives in Mumbai. The initiatives are designed to equip young Indians with the skills necessary for both domestic and global career opportunities.

Goyal inaugurated the L’Oreal Training Centre, the Apna AI-enabled Training and Placement Centre, and a Mid-Day Meal initiative supported by the Malabar Group at the Atal Bihari Vajpayee Skill Development Centre. Addressing the audience, which included trainees and industry leaders, Goyal emphasized that India’s transformation into a developed nation by 2047 will be driven by the aspirations and skills of its youth.

Highlighting India’s economic momentum, Goyal noted that the country remains the fastest-growing major economy globally, with future growth reliant on technology, talent, and innovation. He praised the collaborative efforts of industry partners like CII, L’Oreal, and Apna for creating a comprehensive skill development ecosystem.

The L’Oreal Training Centre will focus on professional training in beauty and wellness services, while the Apna facility will utilize AI to assist job seekers in identifying career pathways and improving interview readiness. Goyal described the Apna initiative as pioneering in its use of AI-driven tools to help youth continuously upgrade their skills. He encouraged young people to take advantage of foreign language training programs, particularly in Japanese, to enhance their international employability.

Plans for additional skill development centres across North Mumbai were also announced, alongside the establishment of a major Artificial Intelligence Innovation Hub aimed at equipping the next generation with advanced AI capabilities.

Concluding his address, Goyal expressed confidence in the potential of India’s youth to drive the country’s progress towards a prosperous future by 2047. The event was attended by senior representatives from CII, L’Oreal India, Apna, Malabar Group, and other industry partners.
