Kurukshetra : Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar said the government has decided to open training and skill development centres for persons with disabilities in each district of the state to bring them into the mainstream.
The new buildings to be constructed would be made conducive to the physically challenged for their convenience, he said.
Khattar was speaking during a ‘Social Empowerment Camp’ and free distribution of aids and appliances function organised by Union Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment and Social Justice and Empowerment Department Haryana under the aegis of Artificial Limbs Manufacturing Corporation of India (ALIMCO) Kanpur in Kurukshetra. The Chief Minister distributed aids and appliances to about 3,100 divyangs worth Rs 2.12 crore.
He said the government has distributed aids and appliances to 10,000 physically challenged and about one lakh more such beneficiaries would be given these appliances.
Speaking on the occasion, Union Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment Krishan Pal Gurjar said his ministry has given aids and appliances to more than five lakh divyangs, and more than 200 mega camps and 4,000 other small camps have been organized in the country. Students interested to study abroad will be given a loan of 20 lakhs.
