Minister of State for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (Independent Charge) and Parliamentary Affairs, Shri Rajiv Pratap Rudy last week announced that the scheme, Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY) that was launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has reportedly been a huge hit with 18 lakh enrollments in the past eight months. The motif of this scheme is “building skill development among the youth in a way that compliments the Make in India campaign that is a novel and ambitious initiative of the Modi government”.
The announcement was made a few days after the Union Budget 2016 was presented. Rudy also announced that 50% of his skill budget will focus on job roles in rural area. He also said that they had conducted 410 kaushal melas across 29 states reaching out to many who needed a direction with respect to employ-ability and employment. He also said that his Ministry will take steps to further ensure increase in capacity and scope of skill development.
