Kathmandu : The Council for Technical Education and Vocational Training in association with Colombo Plan Staff College and Nepal Vocational Qualification System Project is organizing a five-day international seminar in Dhulikhel of Kavre district from 6th March 2017.
The seminar with the theme ‘Sharing and Learning on National Vocational Qualifications System’ will help development of Nepal Vocational Qualifications System, according to a statement issued by the organizers.
The seminar aims to promote vocational education among youths.
The event will examine issues and explore challenges to developing qualification frameworks at the national, regional and international levels and highlight benefits of establishing and implementing the National Vocational Qualifications System.
“It is very important that there are effective qualification and certification systems in place to recognize the skills and knowledge of millions of skilled workers and provide them better opportunities both in and outside the country,” read the statement released by the organizers.
In Nepal, an estimated 500,000 youths enter the labour market every year and mostly remain either unemployed or are employed without proper recognition of their skill and knowledge, read the statement.
Different case studies and tested models of conceptual framework will also be showcased in the programme.
Policy-makers and top officials involved in technical vocational education and training sectors from various countries, including Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Fiji, India, Malaysia, Maldives, Mangolia, Myanmar, Nepal and Pakistan, among others, will also participate in the event. The Ministry of Education and the CTEVT had been tasked to undertake a NVQS Project in 2015.
