Bengaluru : Karnataka will be setting up a Centre of Excellence (CoE) in Aerospace and Defence along with France’s Dassault Systems and the Visveswaraya Technological Institute to provide high-end training and skill development for about 1,600 engineers.
The total cost of the project is Rs 288.68 crores, an official release said, of the which the state provide Rs 34.36 crore over three years.`
India is currently the eighth largest spender on defense and the spending is expected to grow annually at the rate of 7%-8% over the next five years. The increase in spending provides opportunities for the domestic and global companies, the release said.
IT minister Priyank Kharge said that, “There is acute shortage of skilled engineers and professionals in the aerospace and defense sector. The Centre of Excellence will act as a growth catalyst by making world class skilled professionals available for the aerospace and defense sector.”
